A scientific seminar of Iranian scientists was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

March 18, 2022

The scientific seminar of well-known scientists of the Islamic Republic of Iran, professors of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences Sudaba Davaran and Aziz Iftikhari was organized by the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS.

The seminar, which took place in the big assembly hall of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, was attended by heads of scientific institutions, scientists and specialists of the Department, scientists and professors of Azerbaijan Medical University and Baku State University.

Opening the event, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova informed the participants about the Iranian guests. He said that Professor Sudaba Davaran is a professor of pharmaceutical biomaterials at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and director of the university's Center for Health Innovations. The guest is an authoritative scientist and teacher of organic and polymer chemistry, biomaterials, synthesis of organic compounds, nanomaterials, nanotherapy. He is also the director of the East Azerbaijan branch of the Iranian Nanotibm Society. Sudaba Davaran, who is well known not only in her country but also abroad, is an invited professor of Istanbul Yedditepe University and other well-known universities, a laureate and consultant of UNESCO and other international, regional and national organizations.

Aziz Iftikhari is a professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. He also works as a manager, consultant and international office coordinator at the Center for Health Innovations at the same university. Aziz Iftikhari also works as a guest professor at a number of world-renowned universities and science centers, including the Izmir Institute of Technology in Turkey, Istanbul Yedditepe University, Drohobic State Pedagogical University in Ukraine, and the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is the scientific coordinator of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani International Center for Research and Education in Nanobiotechnology and Functional Nanosystems, the head of several international projects, the organizer of prestigious scientific conferences.

Then, Professor Sudaba Davaran made scientific reports on "Innovative role of nanotubes in human health" and Professor Aziz Iftikhari on "Nanobiosensors and in vitro toxicological methods." Extensive discussions were held around the speeches, the speakers answered numerous questions of the seminar participants.

The seminar also focused on strengthening and expanding scientific cooperation between Azerbaijani and Iranian scientists, joint participation in international projects, joint application of research results and other issues.

In 2021, 23 articles by zoologists were published in journals indexed by Web of Science and Scopus databases

Dec 10, 2021 | 11:00 / Conferences, meetings

A joint meeting of the Scientific Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS and the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology was held.

The event is dedicated to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Zoology in 2021.

Opening the meeting, Vice-President of ANAS, Chairman of the Scientific Council, Academician Irada Huseynova greeted the participants and gave the speech to Aladdin Eyvazov, Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Agrarian Sciences. This year, 34 research works on 4 problems, 10 topics in the field of "Research, restoration, protection, efficient use of biodiversity, land and water resources with modern approaches, creation of electronic databases and maps" were carried out, including 1 work and 109 stages. noted that it is over. According to him, in the reporting year, the institute conducted a comparative analysis of species diversity of infusoria communities in different areas of the Caspian Sea and a preliminary assessment of environmental quality according to the structure of free-living primitive communities. , Amphisiellidae, Oxytrichidae, Parameciidae, Prorodontidae, Metopidae, Stokesiidae, Uronematidae, Pleuronematidae, Euplotidae, Colepidae, Urostylidae, Tintinnoidea) 29 species of infusor were recorded.

The rapporteur noted that Stylurus ubadschii (Gompidae, Odonata) was first mentioned for the fauna of Azerbaijan. 4 new mowers and 1 spider for science (Dysderidae family) belong to Harpactea gobustanica Nuruyeva & Huseynov, 2021, Homolophuskozlovi Snegovaya, Cokendolpher, 2021, Homolophus milkoi Snegovaya, Cokendolgiusaya, Cokendolgeus, 2021, Homolophus, 2021, Homoloph Cokendolpher, Zamani, 2021 species are described.

For the first time, at the end of the breeding season (autumn), wild Levant vipers laid eggs with embryos that matured during the winter months (December-February) outside the season without artificial mating. These facts prove that the sperm material left in the woman's fallopian tube after autumn mating is stored for a long time (spermoadaptation) or that the fertilized egg cells enter the embryonic diapause stage (embryoadaptation) due to unfavorable weather conditions in autumn.

The rapporteur noted that the working group set up to prepare the third edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan had conducted extensive research in various parts of Azerbaijan this year. said it was planned to do.

A total of 128 articles, 56 articles, 56 theses, 4 monographs (1 abroad), 13 booklets and flyers were published. Of these, 41 articles and 27 theses were published in foreign journals. In particular, 23 articles were published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus scientific databases, the director said. Aladdin Eyvazov also provided detailed information on grant projects, signed agreements, future plans and prospects for this year. The materials of the scientific-practical conference "Fundamental and applied scientific research in zoology: current issues, achievements and innovations" dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Institute and the 100th anniversary of academician Musa Musayev have been published.

At the end, the report was widely discussed, questions were answered and suggestions were heard.

Academician Irada Huseynova gave her recommendations to the management and staff.

In the end, the company's performance was positively assessed and a decision was made to adopt an annual report.

At the end of the meeting, Academician Irada Huseynova presented an Honorary Decree of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences to the Director General of the Institute of Physiology named after Abdulla Garayev, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ulduz Hashimova on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her birth.
