A joint meeting of the Scientific Council of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS and the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology was held.

The event is dedicated to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Zoology in 2021.

Opening the meeting, Vice-President of ANAS, Chairman of the Scientific Council, Academician Irada Huseynova greeted the participants and gave the speech to Aladdin Eyvazov, Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Agrarian Sciences. This year, 34 research works on 4 problems, 10 topics in the field of "Research, restoration, protection, efficient use of biodiversity, land and water resources with modern approaches, creation of electronic databases and maps" were carried out, including 1 work and 109 stages. noted that it is over. According to him, in the reporting year, the institute conducted a comparative analysis of species diversity of infusoria communities in different areas of the Caspian Sea and a preliminary assessment of environmental quality according to the structure of free-living primitive communities. , Amphisiellidae, Oxytrichidae, Parameciidae, Prorodontidae, Metopidae, Stokesiidae, Uronematidae, Pleuronematidae, Euplotidae, Colepidae, Urostylidae, Tintinnoidea) 29 species of infusor were recorded.

The rapporteur noted that Stylurus ubadschii (Gompidae, Odonata) was first mentioned for the fauna of Azerbaijan. 4 new mowers and 1 spider for science (Dysderidae family) belong to Harpactea gobustanica Nuruyeva & Huseynov, 2021, Homolophuskozlovi Snegovaya, Cokendolpher, 2021, Homolophus milkoi Snegovaya, Cokendolgiusaya, Cokendolgeus, 2021, Homolophus, 2021, Homoloph Cokendolpher, Zamani, 2021 species are described.

For the first time, at the end of the breeding season (autumn), wild Levant vipers laid eggs with embryos that matured during the winter months (December-February) outside the season without artificial mating. These facts prove that the sperm material left in the woman's fallopian tube after autumn mating is stored for a long time (spermoadaptation) or that the fertilized egg cells enter the embryonic diapause stage (embryoadaptation) due to unfavorable weather conditions in autumn.

The rapporteur noted that the working group set up to prepare the third edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan had conducted extensive research in various parts of Azerbaijan this year. said it was planned to do.

A total of 128 articles, 56 articles, 56 theses, 4 monographs (1 abroad), 13 booklets and flyers were published. Of these, 41 articles and 27 theses were published in foreign journals. In particular, 23 articles were published in journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus scientific databases, the director said. Aladdin Eyvazov also provided detailed information on grant projects, signed agreements, future plans and prospects for this year. The materials of the scientific-practical conference "Fundamental and applied scientific research in zoology: current issues, achievements and innovations" dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Institute and the 100th anniversary of academician Musa Musayev have been published.

At the end, the report was widely discussed, questions were answered and suggestions were heard.

Academician Irada Huseynova gave her recommendations to the management and staff.
